Each feather represents the spirit of the bird, craftsmen select feathers one by one and with great reverence.  Turkey feathers play a vital role in spirituality.  The significance of this ceremonial tool is not to be understated, as it serves as a symbol of honor, respect, and tradition.  It is often used in sacred ceremonies to honor ancestors and to connect with the spirit world.  However, the significance of the feather extends beyond its ceremonial uses.  It represents resilience and perseverance.  During a smudging ceremony a feather is used to spread the smoke from burning herbs or tobacco.
