Plume feathers are potent symbols of freedom and liberation in many spiritual traditions across the world.  These lightweight creations of nature represent the ability to rise above physical constraints, reflecting our inner desires to break free from worldly attachments and attain spiritual enlightenment.  It is an excellent scribing pen and is often used in sacred ceremonies to honor ancestors and to connect with the spirit world.  However, the significance of the feather extends beyond its ceremonial uses.  It represents resilience and perseverance.  During a smudging ceremony a feather is used to spread the smoke from burning herbs or tobacco.  The smoke is believed to purify the space and the people in it.
